Meet Rachel

Rachel is a multi award-winning songwriter, musical director, arranger and vocal coach who has been described by HRH Prince Harry as “an inspiration” for mentoring young musicians and her extensive charity work. She has been crowned Freelancer of the Year 2019 for her wide-reaching and outstanding work in the music industry. She also holds a degree in music and a Masters in Songwriting.

Rachel was an expert judge for Sky One television's National Television Award-nominated show, Sing: Ultimate A Cappella during which she worked with musicians ranging from Midge Ure to The Vamps.

As a songwriter, Rachel composes songs for winners of The Voice UK, BBC Introducing Artists and upcoming pop stars. Her songs have won many awards and have been heard on stages across the world, on national television and on the radio. For many years Rachel has run songwriting workshops for schools, charities, drama groups and nursing homes, helping participants create their own song which they have then performed and in some cases professionally recorded. One such song We're The Music was written at a workshop consisting of a mix of teenagers from local school and pensioners in sheltered accommodation. The song was then performed by a choir featuring singers from age 7-80 in the 2015 Festival of Ages and was nominated for an international award.

Rachel wrote the anti-bullying anthem Body On Mute which has been adopted by The Diana Trust, raising thousands of pounds for their anti-bullying work.

Rachel is a highly sought-after vocal teacher. She has also run more than 20 choirs in her lifetime including the UK's top show choir, Euphoria with whom she won multiple awards and performed all over the world from Hollywood and New York to the Royal Albert Hall. The choir also released an album of Rachel's songs and performed on radio and national television in the UK and America.

Rachel is also a an internationally renowned show choir and a cappella specialist and has judged competitions including The Voice Festival, The ICCAs, The AVAs the CARA Awards, The UK Choir Festival, Masters of Show Choir, The Canadian Show Choir Championships and the National Show Choir Championships of Ireland. She also mentors and writes custom arrangements for show choirs in Australia, the USA and Singapore.

Rachel is also a well-known maternal mental health ambassador, working with charities, companies, magazines and individuals to help break down the social stigma associated with it.

Workshops & Services

There are two Lyrical Light workshops to choose from.

Lyrics Only

In a relaxed, non-judgemental and informal setting, the group will talk and share their experiences with postnatal depression. Having compiled the thoughts and feelings of the group's members Rachel will begin giving the song a theme and structure.

Over the next two weeks in her studio, Rachel will then write the song.

A second visit to talk through the song and give each member their own copy of the printed lyrics is planned. If a second visit cannot be organised then the printed lyrics will be safely posted to the group.

Music and Lyrics

In a relaxed, non-judgemental and informal setting, the group will talk and share their experiences with postnatal depression. Having compiled the thoughts and feelings of the group's members Rachel will play different styles of music to the group so they can identify the musical style, speed and instrumentation they would like for their song Rachel will then begin giving the lyrics a theme and structure.

Over the next four weeks in her studio, Rachel will then write the lyrics then professionally record the music and vocals for the song.

A second visit to listen to, read and talk through the song then give each member their own copy of the printed lyrics and recording of the song is planned, where possible. If a second visit cannot be organised then the printed lyrics and digital link to the song will be safely posted to the group.
